Walpole Children's Theatre is a specialized group with our sole intention to educate, enlighten and entertain the youths in the local community.
Walpole Children's Theatre (WCT) was originally founded in 1969 by a group headed by Robert Cheesborough a student from Emerson College. The first production consisted of two one-act plays which were performed at Footlighters Playhouse and at Bird Park, both located in Walpole, Ma. Throughout the years WCT has continued to develop and to provide an excellent opportunity for children to learn about Theatre Arts.
In 1992 several members of the group organized to incorporate the group as a non-profit organization. The intent was to preserve the tradition of children's theatre within the community, providing the children involved with more than just experience on stage, but also the many behind the scene aspects that go into a production. Since then WCT has continued to grow and its staff of volunteers has become a team and family like no other. All of the staff members are former WCT children who have grown up with the group and continue to be involved, assisting in their fields of expertise. This is their way of giving back to WCT for all that they recieved from the experience.
